One Day they’re caught red-handed by Rumi’s family, pressure builds up to get married. Rumi suggests that she will present Vicky along with his parents infront of her parents and if he doesn't, she will marry whomever her family will present in front of her. Her family willingly accepts. But Vicky has cold feet and keeps avoiding Rumi's request to bring his parents over and reject her hand in marriage. Eventually, she gives up on him and agrees to an arranged marriage with Robbie(Abhishek Bachchan), a banker enters the proverbial love triangle.
Rumi as heart broken didn't open herself up much of her in front of Robbie. Rumi accepts the proposal but just the night before their marriage Vicky shows up and melts her anger. That very night Rumi showed up in front of Robbie's house riding a bike and declared that she can't marry him tomorrow or ever. Not caring about Robbie she left.
Vicky's parents made him understand that he will not only destroy the relationship between Robbie and Rumi but also the situation he will put Robbie into. Vicky that same night drove to Rumi's home to elope with her but he steps back crying all the way.

Rumi kept contact with Vicky throughout her honeymoon. Robbie sent her a Facebook friend request and saw that her profile picture was one with Vicky. He sent a text. Later she opened herself up just a bit but more after she and Robbie shared alcohol together. She slept with Robbie and told Vicky. Vicky in turn sent a picture of him with another girl to Rumi to make her jealous. Rumi immediately requested to come back home.
Returning home she confronts Vicky and asked him to move on. They later moved into a physical relationship and kept seeing each other amidst her married life. Robbie proposed her a situation where She can get back with Vicky or stay with him.

Following her, he ends up seeing Rumi and Vicky together and Vicky asking, "Whom do you see when you make love to him?" Rumi not answering the question, Robbie goes to a bar heartbroken and drinks alcohol to keep peace with his heart.
Robbie ignores Rumi the next two days and when confronted by Rumi he says that he heard everything. He concluded that this was not even a marriage they shared. He again reminded Rumi of the situation he earlier put forward. Robbie files for a divorce.
Rumi starts missing Robbie's presence even when Vicky was around. Vicky finally comes to her house with his parents and talk of their future together. Dining out with his family, her sister calls and tells her that Robbie was here to deliver the rest of the things given to them in their marriage. Rumi hearing this news runs back to her house just to catch a glimpse of him but he was gone by the time she reached. Rumi realised that she was in love with Ronnie.
The day they were supposed to be divorced, Rumi tells Vicky that she was better not having a marriage together. Vicky was not the marriage material and breaks off their relationship but keeping contact with each other.
Rumi meets Robbie in the court. She tried to tell Robbie that she had feelings for him but he signed the divorce paper before she could say anything. Keeping sush, she signed too. Robbie asked if he could walk her home. Rumi asked him why wasn't he bothered with Vicky and her relationship with him. He said that he never wanted to know any of that. Only if she was comfortable, she could share. Rumi answered all the unanswered questions Robbie asked her before. Reaching their destination, they bade their goodbyes.
Rumi asked him if he was still in Facebook or blocked her. Robbie smiled and asked her to send a friend request and he will accept. Rumi send him a friend request quickly and waited for his response. In November 2016, it was announced that Anurag Kashyap will be directing Manmarziyaan, produced by Aanand L. Rai. It was supposed to be directed by Sameer Sharma, who had shot some portions of the film, but Rai was not happy with the rough cut and stopped the shooting. He then approached Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari to direct it, but she could not do it because of her "prior commitments".[8] Initially, it was reported by the media that Dulquer Salmaan, Ayushmann Khurrana and Bhumi Pednekar were cast in the film, but they dropped out of the film. Abhishek Bachchan was then brought in as a replacement for Dulquer Salmaan.[8][15] Pannu's character in the film is a sports shop owner who has learnt hockey from her parents.[7] In December 2017, it was announced that Abhishek Bachchan will be a part of the film. The main cast also features Masaan star, Vicky Kaushal, who plays an aspiring DJ and is unable to commit to his love.[16] The film has been shot in Punjab, while some portions in Delhi and Kashmir.[17]
Box office
Manmarziyaan had a fair weekend at the Box Office as it managed to accumulate Rs. 14 crore. The film saw further jump in collections on Sunday as a result of which Rs. 5.70 crore more came in. Had the collections been closer to the Rs. 20 crore mark, it would have been even better, more so since there was good effort from Anurag Kashyap, Aanand L. Rai and Eros when it came to taking the film to the audiences.[18]
